Is It Really Necessary to "Brand" Yourself?

When we come in contact with people, we will most likely be type casted by our names, hairstyles or logos, slogans found on our clothing items.  Humans have the tendency to "judge a book by it's cover" and sometimes it's a wrongful judgment, so why not? Brand yourself before others Brand you. Society is extremely demanding and competitive; for employers, employees, college students and family units (we all compete with one another). 
I recently read an interesting article that highlights some advantages of Branding yourself.  The key elements where; to identify your targeted audience (ieg.professor, prospective employer or Even a relative), determine what's your current image and perform a mini self s.w.o.t. analysis, make adjustments, and develop your brand. My answer to the topic question is Yes, it's really necessary to Brand yourself, "Running your life is like running a business".

hello world this is my first post!

Hi,
Wow, I'm very excited and somewhat impressed i actually set up my first blog account- i must give thanks to my Professor for sharing the very helpful "how to set up a blog account" links, i must also thank my industrial size cup of coffee!

Well my intro: name is Celines O I simultaneously wear many hats; mother, wife and student of life..
I am currently a senior college student, Majoring in Fashion Marketing & Business Management. I am not a fashion designer although have an eye for unique creations, my main area of interest is truly in Marketing and Product development. What i hope to gain from my MKT 245 course is the ability to effectively apply theory and stregnthed my analytical thinking skills.
This initial blogging experience has been challenging in a positive way, i'm looking forward to this new blogging venture.
